Oh yes. John reminds me of both our dads with the grey curly beard and dark wavy hair. And then there is the nose and ears....and eyes!
We might be able to find out how tall he was! The Civil War pension application for our grandfather's maternal grandfather, Samuel Clifford Kirkpatrick, was 5'8" tall. Hard to imagine a male in our ancestry that is shorter than 6 feet tall.
